August 15, 2018 | Chris Sargent Saturday, August 11th was a perfect Vermont day – not too hot, not too cold and best of all – no rain! The V2V Steering Committee was thrilled to have so many people come out to participate in our parade float. Not only was the V2V float the largest, it won “Best Float” and was prized with $100 to add to our fundraising efforts. And speaking of fundraising, we could not have had such a successful “roll out” of the project at the Fair without such generous support from local businesses and project supporters. We want to thank the following businesses and individuals: All Around Power Red Barn Brewing Barrel to Bottle Bently’s Bakery Bridge Road Sugarworks Danville Chamber of Commerce Emergo Farms Ken Linsley Larrabee’s Building Supply Michael Hogue Passumpsic Savings Bank Sambel’s Catering Three Ponds Restaurant VAST Their support, which totaled more than $800 (and included some essential loaned equipment, like the tractor that pulled the float), helped build our float, buy supplies and make T-shirts for the Fair. It will also help us with our grass-roots organizing for our next event! Throughout the day our team from Dubois & King spent at the V2V booth, talking people about the project, collecting surveys and conducting a map exercise. At the same time Steering Committee members were on the trail surveying users. In one day we collected 44 surveys – thank you for your support, input and excitement about this project! There’s more to come in the next 12 months, including our “Reimagine the Train Station” event in late October – look for an update on the exact date in the next few weeks. Between now and then, trail users can take our survey or participate in the map exercise right here on our web site. If you want to be kept up to date on what’s going on with the project, we also urge you to sign up for our email list. We will send out notifications about upcoming events, engagement opportunities or important discoveries to everyone on the list. Thanks to everyone who helped us at the Fair! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or want to get involved.
